Late Spring/Summer Recap (Space X, Microsoft, Amazon)
I can’t believe it is already mid-august. How is this summer going by so fast!? Well, I guess time flies when you are booked, busy, and having fun!
From the start of April, I have felt like my DJ schedule has been quite back to back. I think many DJs would agree with me, but the amount of events that are hapenning in this post - pandemic world have been unprecedented. We are all quite back to back, and booked up with gigs, because people can’t and won’t stoop planning parties! I would be lying if I was to say that is not really exciting to see. At times during the lockdown, I would wonder if people would want or need a DJ any longer. Like would people just get used to a world inside, and never want to go out and listen to cool music anymore? … I really would wonder that, but thankfully ……that did not come true! It seems like actually the opposite has happened!
Time has flown by because I have been able to be a part of some amazing events this summer. And I would love to share a few of them with you in this post.
MICROSOFT
This past spring in late April, I got the opportunity to work with Microsoft and their studios based in Seattle Washington. I was a part of their Advertising Elevate Event that was broadcasted virtually through their network. I played alongside 2 hosts, on a set with cameras capturing us at different angles. Kind of like an actual broadcast you would see on T.V. It was definitely super cool! I played music in-between segments and spoke into the mic to let veiwers know what would be happening next. Check out the photos below:
It was a great time working on this one. I worked with an amazing team at Premier Events Corp, as well as the Microsofts events team. I hope to be able to work with them more! Photo of amazing team below!
SPACE X
Another awesome event I got the opportunity to DJ recently was the Space X Juneteenth Brunch. This event was held at the Space X office in Hawthorne, yes the building you might see near the LAX airport with a literal rocket out front of it. That is where I was, and guess where I DJed this event? Right in front of that rocket!
Check out the video!!!
Because this was a Juneteenth event, I focused the music on Black Artists. I played a lot of good throwbacks, like Usher, TLC, and Snoop Dog, it was a great vibe. I met many of the employees, who were so cool to get to know, and was even given a tour of the space. It was a fun event where the employees enjoyed the music and vibes out front of the building during their lunch break. It was an awesome event to be a part of!
AMAZON
Another event that would love to recap from this Summer, was the event I did with Amazon. I was given the opportunity to DJ a 3 day event with Amazon in Vegas! Each day I Djed in the morning as the conference goer’s filled the hall before the highly anticipated Keynote speaker. I pumped them up, and got them excited for what was to come that day. These types of events are always the coolest to me, cause I get to play in front of so many people. Its like I am DJing a huge club in Ibiza (which I hope to actually get to do one day), but the audience is a bit …… different …and the club is inside. But when its comes to the music, and energy I try to bring across, its Ibiza all the way! lol.
For this event, I had 3 separate sets prepared for each morning. I was given a slightly different musical direction for each day, so I had each set pre-planned. I wanted to make sure everything sounds perfect so I spent each night while I was there, planning and practicing my set. It was fun, and love it when I get the opportunity to prepare a set for events, rather than reading the crowd (which I love to do as well, but its amazing to switch it up)… Below I have some video from the event
They had me DJing in the coolest location. They called it the intergalactic DJ hub. It actually kinda felt like that being in there with all the camera’s on me from each angle. Then the veiws for the camera would be pojected onto this huge screen for everyone to see!
For this one I worked with the amazing events team at Amazon, and the wonderful and creative events company ZedInk. And I have to say, this event was definitely a highlight of the summer for me!
Well actually all of these events were a highlight for me. I feel so lucky to be able to DJ events like this and be able to work with all of the difference incredible teams that put on these events.
Looking back, even though time flew by way faster than it ever has, and I can’t believe summer is already almost over, Its cool look back and know that I have been working hard, and been able to be a part of some amazing projects.
I hope you enjoyed this recap. Because you made it this far, I have a vibey playlist to share with you! This playlist is what I was inspired my Space X set. Enjoy!
