Hi Everyone!
I know, I know ….. it has been a while, and still quite an interesting year we are getting through. There have been so many changes, so many adaptations we have endured, and we are still chugging along, doing what we can with what we have as this pandemic is still kind of continuing on.
Over this past year and a half, I have learned so much. When I sit down and think about it, I learned more this past 18 months than I normally would in like 3 or 4 years. It’s been the huge silver lining for me when it comes to all of what has happened. I hope it has been the same for any of you reading this. I hope you have learned, adjusted and have been able to truly grow.
Because virtual events have still been a thing, I have had the opportunity to DJ some pretty cool virtual events. One my favorites being Amazon Studios’s closing party for their #BeyondtheScreen series. This was a virtual “For Your Consideration” event for the Emmys! Yes yall, the EMMYS!!!! As you probably know, Amazon Prime has some pretty awesome shows, and this was an virtual event/virtual after party highlighting these shows. I worked with Little Cinema who provided an absolutely amazing set up for me to DJ on camera within this this very cool virtual platform they specifically created for Amazon Studios. It was essentially a legimate broadcast that Little Cinema set up for Amazon. It was cool to see.
This event kicked off with a hit, right after a premier of P!nks new documentary called “All I Know so Far”. I started the virtual set playing a jam packed mini-set of the best P!nk songs! You remember the songs like “Get the Party Started” and “Raise Your Glass” ? … Then the virtual segment continued on with celebrity interviews done by my very good friend and incredibly talented MC , Crystal Sparks. Crystal MCed phenomenally, she spoke with different celebrity guests and kept the energy going with the the virtual guests, while I the spun very specific tunes that related to each of the show/movies the #BeyondtheScreen series wanted to highlight. They highlighted shows and movies like “Them”, “Uncle Frank”, “The Boys”, “The Expanse”, and “The Underground Railroad”. For each show/movie they highlighted, I had mixed a handful of tracks together that related to that specific show. I have to tell you, the preparation for virtual broadcast was quite time consumer, however it was very rewarding to see it all come together.
Below, I have some pretty amazing content from the event.
