Vibin in Hawaii
Hey there, my friends! I hope you're all having an awesome summer! I want to take a minute to tell you about one of the coolest DJ trips I've ever been a part of.
So, back in April, I scored not one but two gigs in beautiful Hawaii. In Honolulu I had the honor of spinning tunes at the wedding of the coolest couple ever. From there, I hopped over to Maui for a week-long corporate event where folks from all over the world were gathering. It was a wild ride spanning over 13 days, which is honestly the longest trip I've ever been on. Crazy, right? Anyway, I'm excited to share some of the highlights with you.
As soon as I touched down in Honolulu, I knew I was in for an amazing trip. The clients had hooked me up with this sick hotel right on the beach, and damn, the view was killer! The room was on point, and the weather? Let's just say, Hawaii lives up to its reputation—it was scorching hot! Like its actually closer to the equator. The clear skies and the tropical heat made me itch to get out there and soak up the new surroundings.
Thursday evening, the day before the wedding, I got an invite to the rehearsal dinner/party. I, I could just stroll over from my hotel. I took that opportunity to get a feel for Honolulu, get some exercise, and enjoy the vibes. When I arrived, I instantly connected with the beautiful couple and their crew. It felt like we were already friends.
Now, let's talk about the wedding day—it was epic! The couple had killer taste in music and requested all the jams I love to drop. I'm talking afrobeats, amapiano, throwback R&B, and some smooth hip-hop. I had my trusty Rane 4 controller with me, which gave me the freedom to mix things up and keep the crowd grooving. The energy was off the charts, and I had an absolute blast!
After rocking the wedding, I had a much-needed restful morning on Saturday. I made the most of my time in Honolulu, exploring the city a bit more before catching my evening flight to Maui. I hit up the mall, took leisurely walks along the beach, chilled by the pool, and devoured a mouthwatering beachfront lunch. I have to admit, I wish I had more time to soak in all that Honolulu had to offer. They say it's like an island version of LA, and in my book, it's totally got that relaxed, American-island vibe going on.
So off I went to Maui, feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. My next gig was at this mind-blowing 5-star hotel right on the beach. I was seriously in awe! I mean, who wouldn't be stoked to spend eight whole days there?
Let me tell you, the corporate event was a freaking blast! The company had a global presence, so I had the pleasure of spinning for people from all corners of the world. There were events happening throughout the week, but the real magic went down at the "Circle Club," which was basically a club they built right in the hotel. It was the place to be when you wanted to let loose and forget about the corporate vibe. I dropped banging house and EDM beats, threw in some timeless classics, and got the dancefloor pumping with afrobeats and Latin tunes. Oh, and guess what? I was even asked to play the theme song from "White Lotus" a few times, because, get this, we were staying right next to where they filmed it! Talk about being on point with the theme!
I had such a blast during the week that I managed to snag a day off. That gave me a chance to explore more of Maui and kick back with the awesome team I was working with. Let me tell you, these folks were top-notch.
Here's a crazy coincidence—remember that couple whose wedding I rocked in Honolulu? Well, turns out they were honeymooning at the hotel next door, the very same place "White Lotus" was filmed! Small world, huh? They were kind enough to invite me over for a drink, and it was a blast catching up with them.
Wrapping up the corporate event was bittersweet. I met incredible people, collaborated with an amazing team, and had an experience that will forever stay with me. Heading back to the mainland (yup, that's what Hawaiians call it), I was filled with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.
This DJ trip to Hawaii was beyond anything I could have imagined. It gave me the chance to connect with awesome people, soak up the beauty of the islands, and share my passion for music with a global audience. These memories will always remind me of the power of music to bring people together, no matter where we come from.
So, my friends, as you enjoy the summer vibes, take a moment to appreciate the adventures that come your way—both in your personal and professional life. They shape us, they make us who we are, and they give us memories that last a lifetime. Until next time, keep riding those positive waves and let the music guide you on your own incredible journeys.
