Vibin in Hawaii

Hey there, my friends! I hope you're all having an awesome summer! I want to take a minute to tell you about one of the coolest DJ trips I've ever been a part of.

So, back in April, I scored not one but two gigs in beautiful Hawaii. In Honolulu I had the honor of spinning tunes at the wedding of the coolest couple ever. From there, I hopped over to Maui for a week-long corporate event where folks from all over the world were gathering. It was a wild ride spanning over 13 days, which is honestly the longest trip I've ever been on. Crazy, right? Anyway, I'm excited to share some of the highlights with you.

As soon as I touched down in Honolulu, I knew I was in for an amazing trip. The clients had hooked me up with this sick hotel right on the beach, and damn, the view was killer! The room was on point, and the weather? Let's just say, Hawaii lives up to its reputation—it was scorching hot! Like its actually closer to the equator. The clear skies and the tropical heat made me itch to get out there and soak up the new surroundings.

Traveling DJ

Thursday evening, the day before the wedding, I got an invite to the rehearsal dinner/party. I, I could just stroll over from my hotel. I took that opportunity to get a feel for Honolulu, get some exercise, and enjoy the vibes. When I arrived, I instantly connected with the beautiful couple and their crew. It felt like we were already friends.

Now, let's talk about the wedding day—it was epic! The couple had killer taste in music and requested all the jams I love to drop. I'm talking afrobeats, amapiano, throwback R&B, and some smooth hip-hop. I had my trusty Rane 4 controller with me, which gave me the freedom to mix things up and keep the crowd grooving. The energy was off the charts, and I had an absolute blast!

After rocking the wedding, I had a much-needed restful morning on Saturday. I made the most of my time in Honolulu, exploring the city a bit more before catching my evening flight to Maui. I hit up the mall, took leisurely walks along the beach, chilled by the pool, and devoured a mouthwatering beachfront lunch. I have to admit, I wish I had more time to soak in all that Honolulu had to offer. They say it's like an island version of LA, and in my book, it's totally got that relaxed, American-island vibe going on.

So off I went to Maui, feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. My next gig was at this mind-blowing 5-star hotel right on the beach. I was seriously in awe! I mean, who wouldn't be stoked to spend eight whole days there?

Hawaii Corporate Dj

Let me tell you, the corporate event was a freaking blast! The company had a global presence, so I had the pleasure of spinning for people from all corners of the world. There were events happening throughout the week, but the real magic went down at the "Circle Club," which was basically a club they built right in the hotel. It was the place to be when you wanted to let loose and forget about the corporate vibe. I dropped banging house and EDM beats, threw in some timeless classics, and got the dancefloor pumping with afrobeats and Latin tunes. Oh, and guess what? I was even asked to play the theme song from "White Lotus" a few times, because, get this, we were staying right next to where they filmed it! Talk about being on point with the theme!

Corporate DJ

I had such a blast during the week that I managed to snag a day off. That gave me a chance to explore more of Maui and kick back with the awesome team I was working with. Let me tell you, these folks were top-notch.

Here's a crazy coincidence—remember that couple whose wedding I rocked in Honolulu? Well, turns out they were honeymooning at the hotel next door, the very same place "White Lotus" was filmed! Small world, huh? They were kind enough to invite me over for a drink, and it was a blast catching up with them.

Wrapping up the corporate event was bittersweet. I met incredible people, collaborated with an amazing team, and had an experience that will forever stay with me. Heading back to the mainland (yup, that's what Hawaiians call it), I was filled with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.

This DJ trip to Hawaii was beyond anything I could have imagined. It gave me the chance to connect with awesome people, soak up the beauty of the islands, and share my passion for music with a global audience. These memories will always remind me of the power of music to bring people together, no matter where we come from.

So, my friends, as you enjoy the summer vibes, take a moment to appreciate the adventures that come your way—both in your personal and professional life. They shape us, they make us who we are, and they give us memories that last a lifetime. Until next time, keep riding those positive waves and let the music guide you on your own incredible journeys.

BLOOMBASH 2023 - San Diego (RECAP)

I recently got to be part of Bloom Bash which is a ticketed event at the San Diego Museum of Art. I can’t say enough about how amazing this event was to DJ! The event helped ring in the spring season and kick off Art Alive weekend!

I arrived in my hot pink matching suit set so I would fit into the fun spring theme. Everyone was dressed in vibrant colors and came very excited to celebrate. There was even a ferris wheel and hired dancers on roller skates!! I can’t tell you how much I love to DJ with skaters, it is such a vibe!

To add a twist to my DJ set I got to collaborate with an amazing saxophonist named Erisa Nicole. She was incredible!! Together we crafted a really entertaining set. My personal favorite part is when we both played “Love on Top” by Beyoncé and had the whole crowd vibing.

This event was everything!! And I hope to get to travel back down to San Diego next year to do it again with Erisa! :)

It is pretty cool how I become a silhouette towards the end of the mix.

I love this mix so much, it is full of amapiano remixes as well as vibey top 40 remixes. It’s totally a DOPE vibe that is perfect for when you are winding down at night!

Busy Start To The Year! 2023 Recap

Hello everyone! I hope you've had a fantastic start to the new year. As for me, I've been incredibly busy with some amazing events that I'm extremely grateful for.

In my previous post, I shared some of the exciting events that wrapped up 2022, and in this post, I'm thrilled to tell you all about the incredible events I've been a part of in 2023 so far.

This year has been filled with a lot of traveling for me. In January alone, I had the privilege of going to Vegas three times! The first event was with Google for the opening party of the BIG CES conference. It was an incredible opportunity to be a part of a major tech event that happens annually in Vegas.

DJ That Travels

After that, I went to Vegas two more times, once for the Informatica Conference, and the other for the Acumatica conference. Both events were a blast, and I even had the chance to play at XS nightclub at the Wynn!

In February, I played at an amazing event in LA Quinta for White Case Law Firm. It was a great experience, and I had a lot of fun playing for the crowd.

Later in February, I had the honor of DJing two major events.

The first was the VIP tailgate party for a popular annual football event (if you know what I mean). It was an incredible experience, and the crowd was amazing. I am not supposed to post pics, but if you check my IG (@dj.kara) you will more details on this event! It was so fun!

Then, towards the end of February, I had the pleasure of playing at one of my favorite events to date - a Y2K party with Paris Hilton. Klarna and Paris Hilton teamed up to create an incredible Y2K pop-up event in WEHO, and I was thrilled to be a part of it.

All in all, 2023 has had an incredible start for me, and I'm excited for what's to come. I feel extremely grateful for all of these amazing opportunities, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store. Thank you all for your support!

2022 Recap -Favorite Moments

Happy New Year!!

I hope you are having a great start to your year so far.

I actually really cannot believe it is already 2023.  Last year absolutely flew by! It feels like it was just the new year last year, and I was buzzing with excitement for what 2022 would bring.  This time last year, I could have never even imagined what was in store.  Last year I was given opportunities I have only dreamed of.  I got to DJ with some pretty awesome clients, and got to DJ in some pretty awesome cities.  Below I have recapped a some of my favorite memories :)

Getting To DJ Zillow Unlock 2022 In Person

I have been DJing with Zillow for the last 5 years, and it has been the best time. However over the pandemic we were not able to come together for the Unlock conference. We did a virtual event in Napa, which was very cool! But Getting to be back on stage to DJ in Vegas this year, and getting to see and work with their incredible team made me realize how I missed being in person at these events. I am really looking forward to more in 2023!!

DJing For Porsche Auto Show

This event was the coolest! I mean I got to play my favorite jams, in front of the coolest and newest Porsche cars. I love events where I can truly set a vibe, not necessarily playing all the super danceable jams, but more the jams that make you feel.  It was a lot of fun! And it was also amazing working with their team.

LA Autoshow DJ

For this event I actually brought in a sound tech to help provide sound.  Joe is a friend of mine, and also a DJ going by DJ MOJOE. While I do have speakers and can provide them when needed, whenever I feel I need support on sound I get help from Joe or his team.

Joe actually created a video covering the event! Watch below! :)

Buy a Camera to Make More Mixing Videos

If you haven’t noticed already, I am all about the mixes! I absolutely love creating DJ mixes and sharing them with the world. This past year I decided to buy a good camera and lense so that I could film myself live while I was mixing.  I felt it would be cool to share easy live mixes that I can create really anywhere.

You can check out a more of them on my Youtube Channel

Cherry Bomb

I have been working with a friend of mine on a monthly party called The Taste of Cherry Bomb.  Cherry Bomb is meant to be a new queer bar and cafe for women, non binary, and gender expansive peeps.  While that is coming together, which is obviously quite an undertaking, I have been working with my friend to spread the word with this amazing event called “A Taste of Cherry Bomb”  Normally it is at a bar or club in west hollywood, and it's typically packed every single time! I get to play all of my favorite jams and get to DJ for and work with tons of my close friends.

Travel

Another thing I got to do a lot of this year, that was def a highlight, was travel and DJ in different cities. I got the opportunity to Dj in cities like Atlanta, Washington DC, Seattle, Vegas, and Houston. It is always so much fun and exciting to see new cities while working.

I hope you have some great memories from 2022 as well!

Now lets have a knock-out 2023!!!!!!!!!!!

Best of 2022! - Live Mix

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope you all are having a wonderful start to your NEW YEAR!! I can’t believe how fast 2022 went by!

I am so thankful for 2022, I got the opportunity to DJ some amazing events in LA, (and even some events outside of LA), and work with many different amazing people.

As the year came to an end, I thought back to the music that came out. It was actually quite a good year for music if you think about it. We got albums from Beyonce, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar, while Bad Bunny basically completely took over. I mean that is a line up!! And as a DJ, that is everything we dream of! It was so much fun getting to be back in person with people, getting to finally DJ amazing new music again. I loved it!

It was actually so good that I felt inspired to create a mix!

This mix is just recapping some of my favorite tracks from 2022. They are all remixes, so this mix will be a bit different than expected. My goal was to create something you could vibe to while being reminded of some of the best tracks from 2022.

I hope you enjoy! And I hope 2023 brings you health and happiness.
